Manurewa West Primary School

Design & Build Project located at Manurewa West School in South Auckland. Ministry of Educations Property Strategic Plan Priority work is to ensure schools are safe and in good physical condition.

Upon findings it was proposed to undertake a redevelopment of an existing 8 Classroom Block by demolition and replace this block with a 2 Storey 12 Classroom Block. The additional classrooms will be utilised for projected roll growth at the school.

Design concepts started in 2014 and were completed in 2016. The school wanted to make changes which had not been incorporated into the design, so the changes and construction phase was implemented into a design-build strategy. Design changes included internal layout of the classroom block, additional car parking, and amendments to the existing storage area.

The pre-cast concrete classroom block consists of 12 Classrooms, internal sliding partitions to make the spaces semi open plan. External decks run along the entire block. The space is modern, light and bright and a comfortable learning environment for inquisitive absorbing young minds.

Other upgrades in the overall project were upgrades to the Boiler house, The Caretakers Building and the Medical Facility. External landscaping and gardens were also created.

The project ran over a 6 Month Period from June 2019 to January 2020.
